Parade of Shoes!

Parade of slippers, actually! Today this post is to serve as a link in my Etsy shop. Since the cold weather has started moving in, my fingers have been hard at work making custom slippers. I anticipate that the holiday season will not lessen this trend, and I wanted a place for customers to see slippers I have made in the past. So here they are!

~~~~~ Olive Green~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Aqua Teal~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pumpkin Orange~~~
~~~~~~Dark Purple~~~~~~~~~~~~Tennis Ball Yellow~~~~~~~~~~Mossy Green~~~

~~~~~Golden Harvest~~~~~~~~~~ Granite Gray~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Winter White~~~~
~~~~~~~~Tan~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lilac~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Black~~~~~

~~~~~~~~Yellow~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Coral~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Sage Green~~~
~~~~~Heathered Gray~~~~~~~~~~~ Electric Blue~~~~~~~~~~~~ Burgundy Wine~~~

And we can't forget the ever-popular Heathered Oatmeal!

I originally made myself a pair of Heathered Oatmeal Slippers. Right now am thinking my next pair will be either Granite Gray or Golden Harvest. What color is your favorite?

  1. Love them ALL! If I had to choose, it would be a toss up between tennis ball yellow and aqua teal. Absolutely beautiful. They will be on my wish list this holiday season for sure.

  12. Saw these on etsy. Love them! They're beautiful. May I ask what you use for the tread on the bottom as is shown on a photo you posted on etsy?

    Thanks!

  13. My knitting group is so excited about the pattern, we're doing a knit-along. Thanks for putting the pattern up for sale! I wonder, do you have a favorite place online to shop for buttons?

    ReplyDelete
  14. I've never actually shopped online for buttons. I get some at Joann's in a pinch, but most of them I get from my 'button lady'. She is in her 80's and has been selling antique buttons for years. I go to her house, we sit and go through tins of old buttons to find matches!

  16. Hi, I just love these slippers,

  17. Hi FPK,

    The pattern doesn't seem to be for sale in your etsy shop anymore. Have you taken it down? Would love to get a copy of it and try it out.

    Also, I have really only done a lot of scarf knitting. How easy is the pattern for a sort of beginner at knitting?

  18. So sorry...sometimes they sell out when I go to work. In the pattern description it will tell you what 'knitting skills' you need. It is a pretty simple pattern- I taught my husband to knit using it!

  19. Super Cute, saw these on Alli's One Pearl Button blog and just purchased the pattern, thanks for taking the time to make it, can't wait to whip up a pair!

  21. I purchased the pattern for $7 on Ravelry. I typically use a product found at the hardware store called "Plasti Dip", it's used to cover handles of tools in a plastic grip. I used something to dot it on the bottoms of my slippers and socks, works really well and a whole can is really cheap and can do dozens and dozens of projects.

  22. HeathersArk-
    Basically when it says 'reverse shaping' you just do the opposite shape. My description in the pattern is just providing an easy way to do this. The second time you make the bottoms, start with a purl row and follow the pattern through in stockinette stitch. If you have any more questions please contact me at frenchpressknits [!at] yahoo.com . Thanks!

  26. So I bought this pattern a couple of weeks ago and have made my first pair! They are great, thanks so much for your creativity! For those thinking about buying the pattern, it really IS easy, my first pair knit up in about 2 evenings of work. And this was my first felting project, also easy. I am so so pleased with them! Thanks again, and I totally encourage purchasing this pattern!

  27. I just got mine this week and I LOVE THEM!!! The purple is perfect and I love the choice of button!!! I even convinced my bf to buy a pair for his mom. :)

    Good luck with everything Melynda! Wishing you lots of sales and a wonderful holiday!!!

  28. I just bought this pattern on ravelry.com and wanted to know if there's a way to make the sole thicker for additional comfort and warmth. I don't have that much knitting experience - if I double/triple the sole to increase thickness would that be a good/bad idea?

    ReplyDelete
  29. I would start out by trying it with 4 strands first. You may have to shorten the bottoms by a couple rows. Just try to get them to the finished dimensions listed.

    ReplyDelete
  30. My slippers are final dry and I can't wait to wear them! Any tips for sewing on the straps?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Josephine~ I just use the same yarn that I made the slippers with to sew on the strap. This is where the darning needle comes into play. I place the strap where I want it and, starting at one end I start making vertical stitches. I continue to the other corner of the strap, placing about 5-7 vertical stitches total.

  32. do you tie the string and just hide it inside the shoe?

  33. Thank you so much for making such wonderful and beautiful slippers! I gave them to my grandma for Christmas and she LOVES them!

  34. I hope I'm allowed to enter (I need a pair for home too!)? If so, then I am having a hard time deciding between Mossy Green and Burgundy Wine... But, I think that I will settle on Mossy Green because I like to imagine that my feet will sinking into a wonderful carpet of moss. And I still love the leather-look buttons!

    You're awesome Melynda!

  39. I love granite gray and the yellow ones are so beautiful!

    I also like the coat of arms buttons, as well as the black ones before it.

  40. If you are new to knitting what skills will I need to master to make these? They are adorable!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Nancy~ They are pretty simple (I have taught people to knit using this pattern). You will need to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, increase(make one) and decrease (k2tog).

  42. Melinda ... after talking with you last night I had to check out these slippers and your blog. I have to say they are pretty darn CUTE!!!
