Valentine's Day is usually pretty low-key for us. This year we spent the weekend celebrating our good friend's Valentine's Day birthday. Ava turned 3 on Sunday, and although I was instructed to not bring a present, I figured I could bring a card with a knit heart.
Prototypes were drawn up, and my 'little heart' turned out a little bigger than I expected. I used fingering weight yarn left over from my Girly Mitts, but it was still a bit to large to adorn a card. Instead, it became a card (In the form of the pillow, that is):
I enjoyed being with my husband and our 6 week old baby boy! Such a great day. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea, Melynda! It's so sweet and something that she can actually keep and play with. I worked at Sbux and at school, got home at 7 and spent the evening doing homework and watching the Olympics with Eric. We usually don't celebrate much...
ReplyDeleteVery cute idea!! My guy and I spent the day thrifting..
ReplyDeleteUmm, that is adorable. What a lovely idea!
ReplyDeleteSo incredibly adorable! What a perfect "card," hehe.
ReplyDeleteI *love* this!
ReplyDeleteBen and I had 2 performances for the play we were in. Unfortunately I had to get married 2 times on V-day (married in the play that is). Well, at least Ben was the best man. Very romantic.
ReplyDeleteSo lovely...spent my day with my sweetie...smiles.
ReplyDeleteSounds like everyone had a great weekend! Lelah~ Congrats on the new little guy, he's too cute (hope you find time to make your slippers soon!).
ReplyDeleteAmanda~ Mom said you were in a play this weekend, too bad you didnt get to marry Ben!
How beautiful! It is such a cute gift!
ReplyDeleteSo cool. I spent the day working on the house with my husband and having a wonderful evening of food and a romantic movie. It was - probably - the best V-day ever!
ReplyDeleteI would love the have the basic pattern for that! I am a new knitter and haven't figured out charting yet.
ReplyDeleteAmanda, how did you explain the marriage to the kids? It seems like it would be a very confusing subject for a kid to digest? Haha. What play were you in?
ReplyDeleteAva loves her heart pillow (and I do too)!! Yesterday she said that it says "Happy Valentines Day to Ava." Pretty close I guess... Anyway, thank you for such a sweet and special gift Melynda!
