So at this point I realize that I may be a little too late for New Year's Resolutions. Seriously...is it already February?!

I'm usually not one for coming up with a grand list of resolutions when New Year's comes around, and considering my tardiness, I suppose this year is no different. My excuse (and I am always prepared with an excuse) is that I have a birthday coming up next week- so my 'new year' actually starts then! In this situation, I am actually a couple weeks early with my resolutions.

My main resolution is this: spend time knitting for myself each day. This doesn't mean I have to be working on something I plan to keep for myself- just something that I want to knit. This resolution is kicked off with the above project. It may look like a knitted squid now (or so Joe says) but I am excited to get it off the needles to see the end result. It is the Girasole blanket by Jared Flood, a pattern I have admired for quite a while.

The yarn- sadly uninspired. I decided to start this project while I was in Chicago a few weeks ago and literally just snatched up whatever I had the most of as I ran out the door. It's Lion Brand Fisherman's Wool, and of course I have massive quantities of it (It's one of my favorite for the French Press Felted Slippers). Despite the fact that it was a last-minute grab, I'm excited about the progress and how it is working up.

So far I have been keeping up with this resolution (ok...there were a couple of crazy days with no self-knitting) and I'm so glad I am making it a priority. I love to knit- and with all that's been going on here, I want to make sure I continue to love it.

What about you, any resolutions this year? Any you are still keeping up on?

  1. I have a list of 101 things to do in 1001 days (Day Zero Project). It is pretty interesting to try and keep up with it. If you check out the web page for Day Zero you may consider trying it out. 2.4 years is much easier to get stuff done that 1 year ;)

  2. Like you, I'm not really into resolutions (I've been on the academic calendar for so long that autumn feels like the new year to me), but I'm trying to do *something* (anything) creative everyday in 2010. I'm keeping up so far!

One of my friends made the Girasole blanket for another friend's wedding; it's gorgeous! Yours looks really lovely.

  3. It is snowing in the north like crazy so it is a great knitting day. I am pretty new to knitting and started my first pair of slippers. I have the bottoms done and one side piece. Things are going great, I can't wait to finish them today!!! I love the pattern!!!

  4. yes joe... I agree... giant squid, but really lovely! Amanda

  5. Beautiful Girasole you have there! I've been eyeing this pattern for awhile now. I just don't think I want to take on such a large project right now.

No, big year resolutions. I was doing small monthly resolutions last year and that seemed to work well, but I somehow forgot to add new ones once we got into 2010! :)

I found your blog through Ravelry and your cute little felted slippers. I've been watching your success since you were Harlotized and I'm excited for you. You have great, modern designs and I'm interested to see what your next patterns will be. -Ve

  6. I like your main resolution. It is something very relaxing and also it will help you to become more productive.

  7. I am really interest with your resolution. It was fabulous

  8. This is grate idea. This really matching for the house wife who were looking for the grate leisure time activity.
