HELP!!

Tonight (yes, tonight!!) I have a Halloween party to attend.  It's not your typical Halloween party. Actually, the point of the party is to play cards (us Bernardi's... we're card sharks- if you can call Euchre players card sharks).

Joe and I play Euchre once a month with the same 12 people- card club.  In October, it is tradition to dress up in a Halloween costume for card club.  Problem is, I haven't given it much any thought.   Last year I did the same thing.  An hour before the party, I threw on some khaki shorts, yellow t-shirt, and found a large bucket to stand in.  I was the infamous YouTube Grape Lady.  Problem is, only a couple people had seen the video.

So this year there's even more of a twist- I'm eight months pregnant.  I'm sure many of you have been pregnant for Halloween and I need your suggestions.  I've browsed the internet, I'm not seeing a whole lot of options.  What's your favorite prgnant Halloween costume?  Links, pictures, stories; I want anything you've got. Ok...... GO!

PS... I don't find any inspiration from the above photo- there are no plans to paint and expose my large abdomen at this time :)

  1. I went as a Christmas present last year, since J was *supposed* to be due on the 27th. It was cute! Here's a pic: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lelah/4058967861/in/set-72157620579544033/

(I am not one for exposing lots and lots of skin either!)

  2. Well, I had a friend go as a pregnant Nun once. But my friend was a guy, complete with mustashe...it was pretty funny but some people might be offended. You could always go as a school girl, as in the Brittany Spears video with the little skirt and knee socks and pigtails. Neither requires showing skin...not your tummy anyhow.

  3. I went to a party where a girl had cut a hole in a box for her belly and had it hanging from her neck. She decorated the box to look like an oven and she was "a bun in the oven". Her husband dressed up as a baker. It was pretty cute.

  4. When I was pregnant with Gabby (my first), Andy and I went as rednecks, with me "barefoot and pregnant." I exposed a bit of belly, but only for the photos. :o) Evidence here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/69026817@N00/5125953006/

  5. I put some orange felt wedges on a black maternity shirt in the shape of a pumpkin. I added some leaves & a stem. I also saw a costume where the mom dressed all in black, and painted skeleton bones - hers & the baby's - all over. Another idea is to get a white T-shirt, and paint the belly part like a fish bowl. Good luck!

  6. When I was pregnant and had a Halloween party to attend, my husband and I went as Juno and Bleeker from the movie "Juno". It was a pretty easy outfit for me - slouchy layered maternity tees and jeans, but Dave got to wear short-shorts knee socks and sweatbands. Classic!

  7. OMG! That pumpkin belly is too funny!! The Juno idea is cute, as is the "bun in the oven". My older son looked at my pregnant belly just before my 2nd son was born and said "ball"... You could wear a t-shirt with the belly portion decorated like a beach ball or basketball...

  8. P.S. - My older son was only 21 months old when his brother was born! ;^) Good luck!

  9. My daughter went as an oven with a bun in it last weekend and her husband was a chef. They looked really cute.

  10. A tea bag- a garbage bag shirt and a head band with a tag hanging from a string from it. you could carry a teapot as well.

A knitting basket. You could wear a box with a hole in it and have several balls of yarn and then wrap your belly with yarn (don't worry I think you could do that with cutting a hole in your shirt or exposing your belly :O)

  11. You could dress as any animal and say you're a "pregnant fill-in-the-blank". last year i was 36 weeks pregnant and dresses as a cat...a pregnant cat! LOL! http://cbraden7.blogspot.com/2009/10/36-weeks-happy-halloween.html

i also did the painted belly thing though...http://cbraden7.blogspot.com/2009/11/happy-halloween-take-2.html

  13. Mummy! Take ace bandages and loosely wrap them around your body. You might be the only one to enjoy the pun (mommy/mummy).

  16. Aaaaah, that belly pumpkin is hilarious! (I can understand why you would not want to do that, however...that's a lot of exposed belly). Maybe go as Juno? The Angelina Jolie idea above also cracked me up!

  17. I'm not certain if you have time for this, but I just listed a free beard pattern. It is a very quick knit: http://knittinginatree.wordpress.com/free-pattern/
You could always dress up like an old man who is very proud of his belly!

  18. you should make your belly look like a HUGE YARN Ball and just pretend to knit all night - or... knit all night ;-)

  19. I don't have any costume suggestions for you. I just wanted to say that that grape lady video was hilarious! I had no idea who she was until I just saw it!

  21. I was pregnant last halloween. Although we ended up not going anywhere I had a costume picked out. It would be easy to recreated.

Remember Violet Beuregarde from Charlie and the chocolate factory. Here is a photo.

If you recall, Violet blows up into a blueberry after consuming experimental chewing gum. All you need is a blue dress, blue tights and a blue face! Oh, and lots of bubblegum!

  22. One time my friend's parents dressed up for Halloween as Abraham and pregnant Sarah... I think that's pretty hilarious, and it would be a fun costume for both you and Joe!

  23. You could be a very obvious shoplifter with a few things hanging out from under your shirt.

  24. Oh boy, this will be good. Looking forward to seeing what you whipped up!

  25. Ok I know, it's after halloween but I just found your website (from Luvinthemommyhood) and wanted to add my two cents. The first halloween I was pregnant, I dressed up as a snowman (all in white with black construction paper "buttons" up my belly, a scarf, a hat,and some face paint). The next time around I dressed up as Mrs. Potatoehead (brown shirt with removable felt face pieces). Your contraction costume is cute. :)
