Stocking Stuck

Now that the big birthday celebration is over, I can move on to my next knitting event: Christmas.  More specifically, Elise's Christmas stocking.  Yes, I know, she was around last Christmas, but I didn't have time to whip up a stocking- at least she had a cute Christmas outfit- remember?

Knowing that Elise will (probably) be awake this year to open presents, I figure I need to jump on a stocking for her.  The problem?  I can't find the perfect pattern.  The solution?  You, of course.

So far, I do have a few stockings favorited on Ravelry, so here's a little roundup:

The dark blues are more different than they look.  The first is hand dyed yarn, the second is a heather blue with a little more green in it. 

So- what do you think ?  I'm looking for opinions, but also suggestions.  Like I said, I'm not really set on anything and if there's some amazing secret pattern out there I would love to see it.

  1. I really like Number 2 for the pattern, as for the colors, red and the creamy-white a must, I would almost go for the greener blue, just to keep things festive!

  2. My favorites are #3 and #7. I like either color scheme. They're both beautiful. Oh, and of course the outfit was way more important than the stocking! She was so cute!!!

  5. First of all, great color scheme. Secondly, I LOVE #6 (any of them) and #11. I actually just made Daniel one kinda similar to 11 (but in bulky yarn and far fewer cables), so that might be clouding my judgment. So my vote is for #6.

    And can I say how beautiful Elise's Christmas outfit from last year is?!

  9. I'm voting for number 1. that's a stocking i would love to have for my life... i have a handmade stocking that my great grandmother made for me and it even has bells on it. its capacity for stocking stuffers is amazing. :)

  10. I love #2 or #3, with the first color scheme with the 4 colors. Bells or a charm or two would be so cute on it. Will one of these choices blend with your other stockings better than another? They are all beautiful!

  12. I really like number 3, especially for a baby/toddler. If you were planning to knit one stocking that would last forever, I'd go with number 4.

  14. 3 and 4 are great - really, anything fair isle is fantastic for Christmas stockings. Love the first color combo.

  17. i think number 2 it's really pretty and traditional but not old(if that makes any sense) and the first color scheme looks better to me the light blue is really pretty.

  18. I like different elements from a few of them up there - why don't you choose one as "base" pattern and then pick and choose your fave elements from some.

  20. Is this going to be a "forever" stocking or a "while she's little" stocking? I vote #3 for "while she's little" and #6 for a "forever" stocking.

  21. #3 is delightful & darling, just like Elise. #4 is lovely and looks like an interesting knit. #9 is gorgeous too, and also somewhat challenging (at least to me!). None of the rest ring any bells for me; hope this helps narrow the field!

  23. I would use the same design and colors that you used on her sweater from last year. Each year when you hang her stocking, you will remember how precious she was on that first Christmas together.

  34. I like #3. Mostly because when my 4yr old daughter saw it on the screen. I got a "I want one of those," said in the same manner as when she sees a dolly on a toy commercial.
