My Craft Room

The day has finally arrived.  I can't tell you how excited I am to share this space with you.  Now that the baby showers are over and the space is ready for crafting, we can finally explore the wonderful world of before and after.   Here's before, just to remind you where we started:

Great space, not a lot going on- can you see the potential? Here's another:

And here it is as a WIP:

And finally... drumroll, please...

The after shot :)

The techy area...

and the crafty area.

You may notice a slight 'red' theme going on in the studio.  The photo series above is from the amazing Nichole Robertson of Little Brown Pen.  If you are looking to accent a room with a specific color, Nichole has a variety of "Paris in _____" photo series in a variety of colors in her Etsy shop.

I was thrilled to find this vintage doily stretcher in an antique shop in Bay City.  Essentially, it's an old blocking board- how cool is that?

And to think- the only reason I went with red accents was because of my Strauch ball winder- I wanted to make sure it fit in :)

And just for the sake of instant gratification and seeing the pictures back to back:

And finally- just because many of you have asked- here's a bonus picture:

That's right, the updated belly shot at a full nine months (39 weeks) of pregnancy. Feeling a little like a sausage, but not too uncomfortable.

  2. Jealous!! A whole room? I have a corner of our dining room, and I'm ecstatic about it (currently needs to be unburied!). I live very close to those antique stores in Bay City - they're so much fun to browse around in.

Do you know Interweave was asking people that had great craft spaces to send in photos to be considered for Studios Magazine. You totally need to.

  29. Wow this looks amazing! You might like to think about adding a space for your newest family member when they are old enough to be in there keeping you company. Meg from Sew Liberated and Anna Maria Horner have recently posted with some great suggestions on adding baby space to their crafting spaces.

  31. The room is BEAUTIFUL! I have a corner of my bedroom for crafting. It is a pile of yarn, a stack of scrapbook paper, needles, a swift, a ball winder, and two wooden folding chairs. The chairs unfold so I can clamp the swift and ball winder to them. The corner looks like an explosion. Because it IS an explosion. But there is nowhere else to put any of it, unless I kick the rest of my family out of our home. Someday.

  32. Oh my goodness!!! I'm so jealous at how large your craft room is!!! Congrats! I just found your blog this morning and I love reading and browsing through your postings. I don't knit, but I admire those who do. Thanks!

  33. Congratulations on your BEAUTIFUL little girl and your beautiful craft room. I am dreaming up one of my own (on both counts), especially as my husband and I are house shopping. I have two quick questions... what is the colourful little tower in the centre of your table? And do you have any suggestions on felting and shaping slippers for someone else's feet (baby shoes or gift slippers?)

  34. I'm so glad I found your blog! You are adorable, as is your new little baby that I saw in your later posts. I'm drooling over your craft room.

  36. Hi there, a long time after this was posted. Found your wonderful craft space via Pinterest and i am a patchworker and just love your cabinets and cutting table. I am wondering if you used IKEA for all the cabinets, also saw your room when you were making the Pompoms. Looked fantastic for a crafting day or party, whatever. Anyway, if you used IKEA, would you mind sharing which ones and bench tops please.
    Cheers, Cindy Aus.

  37. I LOVE your craft room! It is so sleek, but not ultra modern and cold. Love the butcher block and the cabinets. Being an IKEA afficianado, it looks like their cabinets and tops to me, which are wonderful! Just love. I'm revamping my craft room as well and may need to "steal" your design. LOL! LOVE LOVE LOVE!
