On Swatch Watch... Take Two

Three new colors- I think we finally have some winners. After some of the new floor went down, it seemed to completely change the look of every swatch we had put on the wall. Here were the original 9:

The color that was my favorite (the beige around the outlet on the right) began to look 'fleshy' against the tone of the wood.

Here is an update of the actual craft room/knitting studio area:

Now the trouble is just deciding what color should go where... it never ends!

  1. It's looking so nice! I really like the grey in the top photo.

  2. I vote for the grey too! I think with the light floors and all the windows, you need something a bit darker/deeper than the beige. Wow, I am so envious of your new space. Keep the photos coming--I love watching the progress.

  3. The gray is gorgeous. But I am always drawn to yellow. Both are lovely. :)
    Xoxo.

  5. I like the green and the dark brown, which are next to each other. And though I love the yellow/gold, I think it would be too powerful as the main color on your walls.

  6. Could that be some Bedford Grey we see there??... Love it!!

  7. I always choose white walls, to get more light. Then I use color in other ways, especially for trim. Luckily the 1920's part of our house has lots of unique, old-fashioned trim to paint.

What an amazing, huge space. The possibilities are so unlimited with a large floor like that. And the windows! How lucky you are.

  8. I tend to like the warm tones to the top right in the top photo is my vote. The grey is lovely too. Picking a color is a tough call but the good thing about this though is it's just paint and you can always change it. (I can't tell what the color is one the top photo on the left?)

  9. I think a pale blue or gray (like in the top photo)-- it would keep in theme with the FPK image, and would set off other splashes of color from accent pieces in the room. Clean, fresh, classy, not too loud or obtrusive... The studio is looking amazing! Can't wait to come see it.

  10. I really love the gray (seems many others do to!) in the new set of colors. Over the past year and a half I've painted almost every room in our house and from my experience I really enjoy the grays or gray-blues! I find they're my new neutrals instead of brown-based hues. An updated beige if you will - with much more panache!

  11. PS - it looks like you've chosen a french gray rather than cool or warm. Perfect for French Press Knits!

  12. I am so into the gold-and-grey colour combo these days...but that's just me. Or just gold...or just grey. I'm sure whatever you choose will be lovely.

  13. I think the taupe colour next to the yellow is my favourite. It is a nice warm shade with out being too light or too dark.

  14. Is it a space you will have spend a lot of energy $ cooling? Pick cool palette. If it takes a lot of $ to keep it warm, pick a warm palette. I don't usually pick taupe, but the one by the outlet is a nice neutral waiting for red and navy to jazz it up or turquoise and and a teeny bit of rich yellow accents. Maybe even pizazz it with black? Naw, black shows off dust no matter where you put it. Chocolate would be nice...

  15. I vote for the gray in the top photo. We painted our craft room/office in a similar color and it's just so versatile! You can put warm or cool colors with it and they both look great!

  17. The space is going to be great. It will inspire us all to look at ours. I really love the floor. Could you share what kind it is?

  18. Loving the floor and the natural light! It also looks like a nice large space. Good luck choosing colors - what colors will inspire you, but not alter the fibers with which you are working???

  19. anonymous- The floor is from Lumber Liquidators. It is Schon quick clic in Canadian maple (engineered). It goes down super easy, I just hope it holds up well. It's basically a giant wooden carpet.

  20. Melynda it's looking *so* fantastic! I also am a fan of the grey. I think you'll get lots of light but some interesting contrast with your accessories. That's great your floors were click downs, I see Joe posted below. My parents have had theirs for about 6 years and they've held up wonderfully!
