Becoming Soak Worthy

I instantly fell in love with this dress when I saw the ad in a knitting magazine over a year ago. After some master sleuthing, I was able to find the source of this adorable pattern. Of course, now they have it posted on their site (I'm sure they were being bombarded for answers from the knitting community), but back when I was looking I had to lurk around the forums on Ravelry to get an answer.

The pattern is the Clara Dress by Karin Vestergaard Mathiesen. It's an Isager pattern, and if you'd like to nab a copy, you can buy it as a kit with yarn here.

Since we are starting to look ahead at summer months, I decided this would be a great time to work on getting some patterns for baby knits released. Now that the booties are out, I have plans for some baby sweaters.

This is where the Clara dress comes in(and a few other select baby knits). I've wanted to make this little beauty for quite some time. Now it's officially considered 'research' and I can enjoy knitting away!

There is nothing more satisfying than seeing a beautiful little knit come together... especially when you can finish the project in under a week! The dress is well on it's way and just needs to be finished up. Pictures are on their way!

  3. That is soooo funny! That's exactly what happened to me when I saw this dress in that same exact ad and if you believe it or not, I cast on for this dress a couple days ago!!! I've had the kit laying around for awhile now and I have to have it finished by the end of this weekend, because it's headed to Prague next week with my parents for my new lil' niece. What color are you knitting? Mine's a pretty light sage green, colorway 024. Happy Knitting!

  4. Ve- Wow!, That is funny. I actually ordered a dark bluish/gray color, but wasn't planning on using it for the dress. I am just using knitpicks palette in a yellow hue. I just couldn't stray from the original I saw :)

  5. Oh, my! Just came back from ordering this little cutie for myself. It may be beyond my skill level, but I am looking forward to trying it... and, to seeing your baby creations!

  6. You'll love it! I knit it two years ago. It's terribly easy! Enjoy!

  7. Yeah, I loved the yellow as well, but they were outta that color when I was ordering. I wish I had chosen a different yarn, because I'm not in love with the yarn that was included in the kit for a baby dress. It's not soft enough in my opinion. Can't wait to see your finished product.

  8. I've wanted to knit that little dress since I first saw the advertisement in a knitting magazine! It's precious! I'm glad you managed to find the pattern, because I'd given up (dial-up internet and tracking patterns online don't so much fit together...).

  9. Oh I know, I love this Melynda. If you need a little girl to try it on for pictures (or just gift it to--yes, I said it), let me know! >:) I'm tempted to buy the kit too, but I have so much yarn and 257 other projects in mind that it would probably just sit there until Lauren was too big to wear it. Can't wait to see yours when it's done though.
