Recruiting Back-up

There's a little project I want to get started on but I'm stuck before I've begun.  If there's one thing I've learned in the past 7 months of blogging it's that if I have a question, I now have a wealth of knowledge- my wonderful readers!  Again, I need help finding something which should be right up your alley.

I know many of you are very 'crafty' and have experience in many different craft venues, and today I want to know where you buy fabric.  I know there are a wealth of online fabric sources these days and I'm interested to hear which ones are the best.

More specifically, I would love some help finding a yellow and white fabric.  I like the modern lines of the imperial trellis pattern (see above) and the color to white ratio.

I like the Sunbrella fabric above, but am looking for more of a cotton quilting fabric. I like the colors in the swatch above, but would prefer the yellow being a little more vibrant.  I also want to steer clear of flowers and anything else too feminine.
This is more the colors I am looking for, but I would like to see more yellow than white.

Hopefully you have an idea of what I'm looking for, and maybe you fabric enthusiasts have seen something similar out there.  I won't limit it to just fabric.  If you are out shopping and notice some curtains or sheets that look like they might work, let me know where you find them.  So, this is your mission, if you choose to accept it.

Once the project is done there will of course be a fun reveal- but you'll just have to wait on that :)

  1. I haven't personally used it but I hear that Mood Fabrics in New York is amazing and their website sure looks good! Have you tried Etsy yet? The amount of fabric sellers on there is unbelievable. Good luck and do share your finds!

  2. Spoonflower.com is my favorite...but their fabric doesn't come cheap. On the up side, you can design your own fabric, so you can get exactly what you want.

  3. I think we might share the same tast in fabrics, lady! These days I am all about the not-too-feminine and the yellow and white combo. As for sourcing said dream-fabric, I would suggest having a poke around Haberman Fabrics in Royal Oak, MI if you haven't already. I can spend an entire afternoon in there.

  7. I second Kristina's recommendation for Fabrics.com- you can select fabric by type and designer, etc... also, www.grandbazaarfabrics.com... I'm new to the fabric game myself. Can't wait to see what you find!

  8. I second Spoonflower! You can always make your own there too. Fabricworm.com and Purl Soho also carried fabric. Can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve!

  12. I was also going to recommend spoonflower - I haven't tried it yet (it's a bit pricey, and I'm pretty easily pleased with vintage fabric from the thrift store), but you have such a specific idea (which I love, by the way) that it sounds perfect.

I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product!

  13. fashionfabrics.com has tons of fabric and are pretty good about sending swatches. They are always having a sale on something. I agree with Spoonflower being awesome. Amy Butler has some of the coolest fabric EVER. You have to find a retailer, but her fabrics are fun and gorgeous! She has one similar to what you're looking for. (you have to scroll down to the "soul" collection)

  15. There's a great quilt shop in East Lansing called Country stitches, it has a huge selection and the prices are probably around $10-$12/yard. If you want to touch and feel the fabric it is a good choice.

  17. I love the fabrics online at www.fatquartershop.com...the folks there are really great!

I did a quick search on yellow and came with some really eye candy that looks like it might appeal to what you're looking for! (Lots of choices).

From what I've purchased there, the quality and weight of the fabric has been wonderful.

  20. I'm not certain but I feel like I've seen a yellow trellis table cloth -- maybe at Target?? I'm not sure how much fabric you'd need or if it'd work, but it might be worth a shot!?
