Big Sis to the Rescue

Remember this post?  We can all rest easy- my big sister has saved the day!  You see, I was not the only one to purchase a cashmere Target hat from the thrift store a year and a half ago.  I had totally forgot my sister had purchased one, too.  I should have known she had some laying around- afterall, she did make Elise these super sweet mitts when she was born:

Amanda is my older sister, the one who I take visits out to North Dakota to see. She lurks around the blog (leaving comments under the alias 'Anonymous' and then signing it 'Amanda').  She has also made an appearance here at FPK.  Do you remember the Lansing Cowl and Beret
She happens to be my beautiful model!  Anyway... Amanda happened to read my post a couple weeks ago when I ran out of yarn.  My wonderful sister then sent me yarn that very same day- how great is she?  Elise will get a girly pink cashmere shrug afterall!

ps... The Lansing Cowl and Beret is almost 6 months old, which means I will soon be able to release it to the public.   Look for it at the end of March!

  1. Sisters are the best. :) I have three, and it's wonderful to have built-in best friends.

  2. I can't wait for that pattern! You and your sister look so much alike! I have two older sisters and a younger sister in law, and now that we live far apart I miss them even more.

  3. a Yarn Hero to save the day! Aptly dressed - not in tights & a cape - but rather a slouchy beret & wool cowl. I think you have the makings of a comic book character.....

though I wish I had a sister interested in knitting for this kind of situation to happen.
I C A N N O T wait for the Lansing Cowl & beret pattern to come out. I have loved it ever since you showed us it. I even have tried to buy a kit but to no luck.

  9. I am new to your blog and my heart melted at your last post. Its so wonderful to see a young woman who appreciates the greatness of motherhood. Your daughter is adorable. I have raised 2 daughters and I enjoyed every second of them and still do, they are 30 and 23 and my 23 year old is a knitter and we have great fun exchanging patterns, ideas and techniques. My eldest is a textile artist with quilting being her passion. I was sad for you to return to work already. I'm not sure what your employment is but in Canada young moms get a year paid leave at a reduced rate but some employers top up, recognizing how important nurturing is. Love your blog.

Sisters are indeed god sent. My sister spent 2006 helping me recover from a stroke, while dealing with my terminally ill husband. Knitting has been key to helping in my recovery both in terms of my physical ability and in the grieving process.
