More About the Hat...

**probably my new favorite picture of Elise- I'm totally in love with it (and her, of course!)

As promised, I wanted to share a little more about the super cute baby turban hat that I made for Elise last week.   The pattern is by Pickles, and like everything else they put out, I fell in love with it from the moment I saw it.  I originally saw the little hat when they made an announcement on their blog about Pickles Favoritter, their new book that is now available in their shop (unfortunately it's only in Norwegian, otherwise I'd totally be snagging a copy for my collection).

Anyway, this image popped up and I had to have the pattern.

I started looking through their website...nothing. The blog... nada.  Their Ravelry store- no luck.  Fortunately for me, time was all I needed and a couple weeks later they posted about the Lazy Daisy Sweater and Turban hat- yay!

Have you seen Pickles stuff before?  I've always been a fan but (for me) it's even gotten better lately.  They seem to have a new baby over in Pickles land and I've been enjoying all the posts (and patterns!).  Their yarn looks just beautiful and they really have a way of putting colors together.  Has anyone out there ever had any experience with their yarn?  It seems that is not available in the States- I've tried putting it in 'my cart' on their website and nothing seems to happen.  Maybe they need a US distributor... maybe I should volunteer for the job :)

Anyway, I made my hat to match Elise's mittens which means the yarn was Knitpicks Palette in Raspberry Heather.  Because a thicker yarn is called for, I just held two strands of the yarn together.

Ok... enough words- Elise was rocking this photo shoot, so I will leave you with cute baby photos (with bonus "Sneezy Eleezy" shot):

  6. The photo is priceless! The turban is adorable, and I LOVE Pickles. I knitted one of their boleros 3 times, and I could never hold on to one, I gave them all away to friends and family. I am going to have to make another one. Their patterns are great, and I am glad to hear there are new baby ones. I have neglected checking the blog lately.
Perhaps it's not such a bad idea to offer distributing their yarn...

  7. The good thing is I used to live in sweden, neighbors of the norweigans...I am very fluent and could translate for you, however it would be a pain in the butt as I don't live anywhere near you (in Pa now)..I would really help you if I could.

    Elise is beautiful!

  12. She's so cute! Love her name aswell, same as mine! I've made several garments with their yarn, and it's the softest thing I've felt in my life. I ran out of yarn when I made this sweater( http://kapteinbiff.blogspot.com/2011/01/har-hekla-mitt-frste-og-siste-klesplagg.html), and I found the yarn on etsy, but thats just the worsted weight abuelita (http://www.etsy.com/shop/abuelitayarns), pickles have so many nice qualities in their shop. I love all their patterns, and I'm so happy that I speak and read norwegian :) I also love your felted slippers pattern, I have made a few, and each time i post them on my blog the readers comment on how pretty they are. Thanks alot for sharing :)

  13. Is there any cuter sound than a sneezing baby? And I love the turban - I would want to call her "Madame Elise" any time she was wearing it!

  18. Oh.My.Godness. Talk about cuteness overload, I think my head might "esplode"! I like the very first photo best; I think I see some personality blooming there. She's such an adorable little person! I just found out that a coworker is expecting, so I'll "have to" make some of these turbans.

  19. Oh my goodness. Your little girl is adorable! I love the hat and the colour you chose. I am also a big fan of the pickles patterns and yarn and have wanted to order some myself. I'd support you being a distributor of their yarn for the US and even help if I could learn what I was doing with that!

Ps. I love the baby mittens. I might need to make a pair of those when your pattern comes out.

  23. So cute! What a beautiful little baby and what a great hat! I just discovered Pickles last weekend, and I am in love! So excited to try some of their patterns, but that would require me to actually pick one. At this point, I have spent several hours just "oohing & aahing" over the wonderful choices!
