Breaking the Silence

Just as with a workout routine, an unfinished project, or a strict diet; once you leave a blog stagnant for a while, it's hard to start things back up again.

So today, my sole purpose is just that- to blow off the dust and say hello from the other side of this dormant blog.  Truth be told, words have never come easy to me (at least words that need to be written out).  My blog might be more lively if I got solve math equations on it every night, but I'm sure that wouldn't be very exciting from the other end.

So a quick update- we're all still here, and we're getting through.  2013 has been a busy year.  I'd love to say there have been many handknits and knitting time, but this is not the season in my life for that.  Don't get me wrong, there has been some knitting, but not much to post about.  A few secret projects, and random newborn hat that gets sent off quicker than I can get it off the needles, but that's been about it.

There will be times in my future that will allow for more knitting- I am very hopeful for these days.  This past year has brought an intense work load and it's been hard to relax enough in my down time to enjoy (or even think about) new projects.  On top of work Joe is back in school full time, which has been quite a change of lifestyle.  And of course you can't forget about the two toddlers that fill our lives with so much joy (and craziness!).

These days we're taking it day by day, and once again, the blog is the first thing to suffer.  I do appreciate emails and comments that have come in to let me know there's some of you still out there.  Random encouraging notes over the past few months have been a welcome comfort, thank you for those.

So that is life in a nutshell, I do hope to find a way to incorporate knitting/blogging in every once in a while, I hope you stick around to find out if I do!

  1. Well we are so glad you are back. Just a note once in a while and let us know that all is fine. Congrats to Joe on being back at school. Yes it is quite a change. I did that when I was about to enter into my 40's. It was an upside down two years of our life.
Take care and have a wonderful Christmas.

  2. Looks like I got my feed reader all set up on my new computer just in time to catch your post! It was while I was adjusting to the routine of two little kids that I found your blog--it was such a treat to sit down at lunch time and read a few things "from the outside world". Sooner that you know it, your kiddos will be able to keep themselves occupied so that you might find time to knit something bigger than a baby hat. ;-)

  4. I was thinking about you the last two days and wondering how life was going. Thanks for stopping in for just a brief "I'm still here"!

I never realized you were more of a math person than a word person! I'm in education: taught math for 24 years, now work leading professional development for teachers and administrators. What is your out-in-the world job??

  7. Thanks for popping back on - hope to see a few random posts, knitting or not. I know your big girl just turned 3 as our grand did so last Sunday. I am slow on the knitting front these days as well as, I am caregiver for her 3 days a week and there is no knitting with a princes to care for ;)

  8. Lovely to see/read you again. I haven't blogged since May/June either, and the longer I wait the harder it gets to wake up the blog again...where does one start?
    You did it admirably.

  10. Hello! Nice to hear your voice again :) I totally empathise as I am in the exact same position, just I don't work myself. Not that that means I have enough time to get everything done! You're so right about it not being the season. I struggled with that a while ago, and am now very resigned to the situation and pretty content. Glad to hear you're getting on well xxx Sam

  18. Thanks for the update. It was a treat to find a post from you when I checked in. So glad to read that all is well with you and your family. What precious kiddos!! I'm currently knitting my 8th pair of FP slippers. I have found I can't live without them and wear them so much that they last me about six months! Will look forward to your posts no matter how random or sporadic they are! Merry Christmas to you!
