Selfishly Knitting Away

In the past, I have been a big supporter of Selfish Knitting Month- this January has been no different.

A couple weeks ago I had to jump a flight to Phoenix for work.  Usually this long(ish) flight bums me out a bit, but with a freshly cast on color work mitten in tow, I was ready to fly the friendly skies.

In Detroit, my mitten looked a little something like this:

In Phoenix, I had a completed right mitten:

Surprisingly, I did put my one mitten to use in the mornings and evenings.  When the sun goes down, it gets pretty chilly, and I wasn't quite prepared.

For the flight home I cast on mitten number 2 and had the complete pair by the time we landed.

The pattern is Northman Mittens by David Schulz and it's been a dream to knit.  Selfish knitting at its finest.

Even the innards are beautiful.

Before you go thinking I'm finished- they actually get a lining.  Last week unfortunately involved no knitting in my life, but this weekend I was able to bust out the lining for my right mitten.  I'm hoping to start in on my left lining tonight and finish the pair before January is over.

And if I have a few selfish days left, I may have to find a use for my Greenfield Village yarn that I was gifted for Christmas.  Any ideas?
