My Legacy/Pattern Release

I can happily report that my Legacy wrap is totally finished- now with matching ends and all!  It's just perfect and ready to keep me warm in the coming months.

With the chill in the air, I have been wearing my wrap ever since it came off the needles the second time.

Who am I kidding?  I was wearing it proudly even when it had the uneven ends.  It is truly a gorgeous piece - the weight, the drape, the fiber content...ahh!

This time, I used Blue Sky Alpaca Melange for something different (the first time, my sample knit was done in Madelinetosh Pashmina).  Each yarn is quite different, but both produce an equally stunning garment- it is by far the most luxurious knit I own (both of them, for that matter- as soon as I finished my second Legacy, my first one arrived in the mail the next day!).

When I purchased my final skein of yarn, I also bought 6 pedestal buttons- 1 large, 5 medium size.  The large button can be seen in the first picture above.  I use it when I want to wear  my wrap as a ...well- wrap, I suppose (maybe I should say "poncho'?).  The five smaller buttons are used to hold the ends of the wrap together when I want to wear it more like a scarf or cowl.

Finally, for those of you who have been itching to make your own Legacy, I am happy to report that the pattern is available for download on Ravelry (Yipee!).

Here's some details:

Yarn:
approximately 1000 yards of sportweight yarn

Needles:
US6/4mm
or size needed to obtain gauge

Gauge:
20 sts 30 rows = 4"/10mm in stockinette stitch

  2. It's gorgeous!! I have a question, though, about the buttons. Are they always on the wrap, or do you take them off and swap them out for when you want to wear it differently?

  11. Amazing!!! Very pleasant to look at and just as pleasant to wear, I suppose. I'm fond of the autumn colors, especially in the autumn. :)

  13. I love this. I found it on pinterest and I am on my way to the yarn shop to pick out some yarn. I looked at your previous version and this one--did you put a buttonhole on this one? If so, about how many inches from the end and edge? Thank you!

  15. Yes, about the buttons....I have the same question as 2 of the previous posters. Those are pretty big buttons! Do you have a button hole somewhere on this??

  16. Question ... do you prefer this wrap, or the one you made with the Madelinetosh Pashmina? I'm having a hard time deciding which yarn to use for mine! GORGEOUS!

  17. Which wrap is your favorite? This one made with the Blue Sky alpaca yarn, or the other that you made with the Madelinetosh Pashmina? I can't choose!! I can't wait to get started on mine! xo

  18. Pedestal buttons are similar to cuff links...no need for button holes, they're temporary. Wasn't familiar with them myself but love this concept. Here's a new link as the old one seems to have broken: http://www.juldesigns.com/attach/pedestal-buttons/
